Moretta

200/day

The modernity of Venice presents itself in all social aspects. From the second half of the 1600s, women of any social class could leave their home simply by wearing a mask. The nobles wore a candid Bauta, the bourgeois and the common women the “brunette”. The mask was worn only on the street, and it was a clear message not to be approached. Arrived where they wished to remove the mask and therefore behave freely. Even noble men used the Bauta, to avoid being recognized and therefore stopped on the street by beggars, or often, creditors or their emissaries, the “pittime”. There are different sizes of this dress.
