There is no Palio in Italy more famous and cherished than the one in Siena, which for centuries has transformed the Piazza del Campo into a racetrack for the most heartfelt and participated horse race ever!
Each Contrada participating in the Palio has its own distinctive colors, and all the “monture” (costumes) are made following the sketches from the early 1900s, knowing that they are not philologically correct, but by now historic! Thanks to careful reconstruction work, some Contrada(s) are slowly recovering historical models in headdresses and details, always using fabrics from historic Italian textile manufacturers, which have preserved the “holes papers” for making the correct fabrics for over 100 years.
Francesco, in addition to providing the hats for some Contrada(s), has created the new costumes for the Contrada della Tartuca, using Lisio fabrics and… a lot of passion!
