Da oltre dieci anni l'Atelier Pietro Longhi è luogo di riferimento per rievocatori, amatori della storia del costume e del Carnevale veneziano. Nato grazie alla passione di Francesco e Anna Maria Briggi per il carnevale e la sartoria storica, come piccolo show room – sartoria oggi consta di tre realtà distinte ma accomunate dalla ricerca per la qualità ed originalità: la "bottega", la sartoria, la cappelleria. La sartoria, chiusa all'interno di un palazzo nobiliare tardo-gotico, ruota attorno ad una piccola biblioteca privata che raccoglie testi di storia del costume e degli accessori, editi in tutto il mondo. Da questi e dalle mani di Francesco e delle sue collaboratrici, grazie allo studio e alla reinterpretazione, nascono i costumi dell'Atelier Pietro Longhi. Nel laboratorio, fra stoffe preziose, bottoni pregiati e luminose passamanerie prendono vita quegli abiti storici che tutti possono poi ammirare nella "bottega". Unendo il taglio filologico alla scelta dai tessuti che riprendano lo spirito dell'epoca del costume, Francesco crea degli abiti sempre diversi: riproduzioni di uno spirito, prima che di un modello. La sua dedizione contagia i clienti che, sempre più spesso, diventano veri e propri collezionisti. A poco a poco l'abito si arricchisce di bottoni originali di diverse provenienze, gioielli e bigiotteria d'epoca, bastoni ed ombrellini antichi. Quello che per molti nasce come momento di divertimento, diventa una vera passione, e le richieste si fanno sempre più complesse: nuove sfide per Francesco ed il suo staff, che devono di volta in volta recuperare arti manifatturiere ormai perdute. Il cuore dell'Atelier è chiuso al pubblico, ma sempre più spesso, su prenotazione, viene aperto a scuole ed università che vengono a riscoprire e conoscere un'arte ormai destinata all'oblio.
For over ten years the Atelier Pietro Longhi has been a place of reference for celebrators and amateurs of the history of costume and of Venetian Carnival. Born as a small showroom thanks to the passion for carnival and historic tailoring of Francesco and Anna Maria Briggi, the Workshop today consists of three distinct entities linked by research on quality and originality: the Showroom, the Workshop, the Hat Factory . The Workshop, enclosed within a patrician late-Gothic palace, is centered around a small private library that collects texts of history of costume and accessories, published worldwide. From these and from the hands of Francesco and his collaborators, thanks to the study and reinterpretation, the costumes of Atelier Pietro Longhi are born. In the workshop, among precious fabrics, buttons and bright trimmings, the historical clothes that everyone can admire in the showroom are brought to life. By combining philological cutting with a choice of fabrics that recall the spirit of the age of the costume, Francesco creates clothes always different: replicas of a spirit rather than a model. His dedication spreads among customers who increasingly become real collectors. Gradually the suit is enhanced with original buttons of different origins, jewelry, sticks and old umbrellas. What for others is just as a moment of fun, here becomes a real passion, and requests are increasingly complex: new challenges for Francesco and his staff, who must in turn recover an art manufacturing now lost. The heart of the Atelier is closed to the public, but increasingly, by reservation, is open to schools and universities who come to rediscover and learn about an art that was otherwise destined to oblivion.
